XBRL Final Rule

The SEC has announced its final XBRL rule. For public companies, interactive data financial reporting will occur on a phased-in schedule beginning in 2009. The largest companies who file using U.S. GAAP with a public float above $5 billion will be required to provide interactive data reports starting with their first quarterly report for fiscal periods ending on or after June 15, 2009.


SEC Announces XBRL Mandate

The Securities and Exchange Commission has voted to require public companies and mutual funds to use interactive data for financial information. The largest companies who file using U.S. GAAP with a public float above $5 billion will be required to provide interactive data reports starting with their first quarterly report for fiscal periods ending on or after June 15, 2009. remaining companies who file using U.S. GAAP will be required to file with interactive data on a phased-in schedule over the next two years. Companies reporting in IFRS issued by the International Accounting Standards Board will be required to provide their interactive data reports starting with fiscal years ending on or after June 15, 2011.

Changeover to the SEC's New Smaller Reporting Company System

The SEC has adopted a new system of disclosure rules for smaller companies filing periodic reports and registration statements with the SEC. The new rules are effective February 4, 2008. Form types 10QSB, 10KSB, SB-2, 10-SB, are slowly being phased out as a result of this new system. Companies with a year end of December 31st will be required to file under form types 10-K and 10-Q on reports beginning with the first quarter of 2008. Click to view a summary on the SEC web site.


Electronic Submission of Form D

SEC Now Using U.S. Bank of St. Louis Missouri

The U.S. Department of Treasury’s Financial Management Service has designated U.S. Bank of St. Louis, Missouri as the new Financial Agent for General Lockbox Services for the SEC. US Bank will take over this responsibility from Mellon Bank on February 4, 2008. All fee payments (wires and checks) must be submitted to US Bank on and after this date. No payments should be submitted to Mellon Bank after February 1, 2008.

AFS Joins XBRL Canada

CSA Announces SEDAR XBRL Program

SEC Enhances Online Searches for Investors

Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox today announced that investors are now able to search the contents of the disclosure documents filed electronically with the SEC using a new full-text search tool on the Commission's website.


SEC Announces XBRL Contracts

The SEC announced today a it had awarded three separate contracts totaling $54 million to transform the EDGAR disclosure system from a form-based electronic filing cabinet to a dynamic real-time search tool with interactive capabilities. The major investment in an "interactive data" system signals the agency's commitment to move away from the model of its current EDGAR database.

Changes to form cover pages

Changes to disclosure obligations in Canada
